Thousands of Orienteers Towards Italy: the side events

Orienteers and sport lovers keep counting down the days to the first World Orienteering and Trail Orienteering Championships (WOC-WTOC) ever hosted in Italy. From 5 to 12 July, 2014, Trentino and Veneto regions in the Northern part of the country will turn into some sort of a cradle of sport orienteering, welcoming over 2500 people from each corner of the planet. From New Zealand to China, from North Korea to Chile and from South Africa to Turkey, Japan and European countries – 54 nations as a whole – the entire world will be gathering in the Italian terrains. The Opening ceremony is scheduled on Sunday 6 July in the picturesque town of Asiago, while the first races will take place in beautiful Venice on the day before. The complete programme is available on www.woc2014.info, but WOC and WTOC competitions will be flanked by the promo event ‘5 Days of Italy’ and the last entry deadline has been postponed to the 15 June, in order to collect the many requests the OC received in the past weeks. All instructions, forms and prices are available in details on the WOC-WTOC official website www.woc2014.info.

Not only orienteering. During the week of the World Orienteering Championships and Trail Orienteering (WOC-WTOC), at the WOC Tour many tourism initiatives are ready. Here are some of them: Circuit of Golf, Visit to the Great War sites, Visit to the PEFC certified forests, Exposure the mascot design competition, Exposure of orienteering maps, visit to the observatory of Asiago.
